Who We Are

Home Sweet Home dog rescue has been in existence since 2013 and is driven by a single goal; to do its part in making the world a better place for dogs.

Our small volunteer group is dedicated to helping rural and small town pounds to save the lives of their adoptable dogs where adoptions are few and far between and euthanasia were and still are very high. We rescue mainly outside the province, as Ontario is blessed with many good private and independent volunteer rescue organizations which help out our local shelters and pounds. Our rescue dogs are in the care of dedicated and experienced foster volunteers as we do not have a shelter.

Many of the dogs posted on our website come from far away pounds. While the majority of our rescue dogs used to come from the USA, since the USA/CAD border was closed due to Covid-19 and sadly dog rescue was not considered to be an essential service, we began to rescue dogs from overseas, primarily from Egypt and a few other neighboring countries, where millions of street and shelter dogs are in dire need of assistance. Many of the dogs in these countries can linger their entire lives in shelters with no hope of ever being adopted into a loving forever home and being rescued is their only salvation.
